Forced Marriage

Title : A fish caught in a net - A visual narrative on Forced Marriage

Picture a fish caught in a net - it's similar to a bride forced into a marriage, both situations feeling constrained. This analogy extends to the troubling idea of women being treated as or feeling as merely objects for intimate desires within such marriages, resembling the coercive nature of trapping. Fishnet clothing is also often associated with adult entertainment and thus, in this photograph series symbolizes non consensual sex that women are forced to have in these marriages which is a violation of their bodily autonomy.

Forced marriages or marriages without consent are a form of Gender - Based Violence prevalent in South Asia.
